G8: AN 8-HOUR, MULTI-LAP ENDURANCE EVENT ON THE GOLIATHON COURSE

OVERVIEW:

G8 is an 8-hour version of our event that runs concurrently with our regular Spring event. G8 participants will complete multiple laps of the course to earn as many obstacle points as possible from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

The inaugural G8 event took place on June 3, 2023 and the next is scheduled for June 1, 2024.

GENERAL RULES:

  • G8 participants must move through the course and get recorded at each obstacle (including successes, failures, and skips) in course order.

  • G8 participants must stay on the marked course at all times. Course cutting is not allowed.

  • Just as in the regular competition, G8 participants get one and only one attempt at each obstacle per lap. After that attempt (regardless of the outcome) they must move on to the next obstacle.

  • Each G8 participant will be provided a G8 buff that must be visible while competing. This buff will allow the participant to move to the front of all obstacle and band-scanning lines.

  • G8 participants must be scanned at the finish line of each lap as well as the starting line as they begin a new lap.

  • G8 participants are allowed to “pit” between laps (but only after crossing the finish line and before starting their next lap).

  • Any obstacle scores recorded after the 8-hour mark will not be counted toward participants' overall score.

  • G8 participants must observe all Goliathon rules while competing on the course.

  • G8 participants between the age of 10 and 14 must be accompanied on the course at all times by an adult who is also registered as a G8 participant.

  • G8 participants will receive a total score for the G8 competition that is the sum of points for all of their completed obstacles across all of their laps. In the event of a tie for first place, tied participants will climb the 50’ rope and the participant with the shortest climb time will be the winner.

  • G8 participants may still participate in the team competition. Their score for their team will be a tally of their best score for each individual obstacle, regardless of which lap produced the best score for that obstacle. G8 participants who are in the team competition must (like all other participants) complete their first lap in under 4 hours.

REGISTRATION:

We're limiting G8 2024 to 30 participants on a first come, first served basis. Anyone wishing to participate in G8 2024 must first register for Goliathon. The cost to register for G8 is an additional $80 on top of Goliathon's general registration fee through May 17 or an additional $100 from May 18 through May 29. Once registered for Goliathon, the G8 fee can be paid via Venmo to @goliathon or Paypal to info@goliathon.com to complete the G8 registration. Pending availability, event day registration for G8 may also be available for an additional $120 above the general Goliathon participant fee.

SWAG:

In addition to the regular Goliathon swag, all G8 participants will receive a G8 shirt, medal, and buff. The overall point winner will also receive a 25’ Goliathon braided rope (and bragging rights, of course).
